  • Reflection Question
    Health & Equity Practice Mindfulness
What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

I would not identify myself as one that rushes or gets overwhelmed; however, I do tend to over focus on tasks and get very involved in what I am working on at that moment. Practicing mindfulness is calming as it encourages me to focus on how my body is reacting to the physical and mental task that it is at hand. I will make this a daily practice as I had not beforehand.
  • Reflection Question
    Education & Livelihood Work-Life Balance
How does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

Reflecting on my self-care regimen helps me to focus on "me" time. I just got a new Apple Watch and it helps me to practice mindfulness. I have set it to remind me twice a day to practice mindfulness and to take time to focus on breathing. While at work I do my best to take the stairs and to walk on my breaks. Just gotta keep it up :)

  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Make Zero-Waste Meals
How did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?

After prepping the family meals for the week I used remaining vegetables and skins by chopping them up finely and making soup and the other items I incorporated into home made dog food.
  • Reflection Question

With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

If I have extra water left over from from watering all my indoor plants I will will utilize it the next time I need to water plants instead of pouring it out or will water my outdoor plants with it.

We do this too - it's a good and simple way to save water! My husband will be going out to buy rain barrels later today, too.
