Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

Richer countries tend to be more northern, and northern countries traditionally have less access to fresh fruits and vegetables.   For example, the Artic peoples eat a diet almost exclusively of meat, while some southern countries such as India have more plant based diets.
