Climate & Ecosystems Calculate Your Carbon Impact
What is one way you will reduce your carbon foorprint? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your carbon footprint?

I am trying to bike more and drive less- a little scary in my area, but working on it!

I almost feel guilty now when I do certain things, and I need to push through that feeling- it just isn't sustainable. I am trying to pivot it to action over guilt, but its a work in progress.

We use the dishwasher for everything- much more efficient than hand washing- and we only shower when we need it, not daily "just because". We also plant drought resistant gardens, so almost never water outdoor plants.
  • Reflection Question
Health & Equity Learn About Equitable Food Access
How is food equity and access linked to a sustainable future?

    Laura Browning's avatar

Food equity keeps people healthier and allows for more support for planting locally, keeping the region cleaner.
  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Get Involved in the Water Justice Movement
Who is affected by water insecurity in your region? How are they affected? How are you impacted by water insecurity?

Many older East Coast and rust belt cities struggle with old, unsupported infrastructure, which drives the use of single use water containers as well as keeps people from having clean water in their homes.
  • Reflection Question
Education & Livelihood Research Impact Investing
After learning more about investing, how can you increase positive impacts and decrease negative impacts?

    Laura Browning's avatar
    Laura Browning 4/13/2022 8:36 AM
By being very aware of your investments. There is an idea that investing is black and white- either all good or all bad, and in reality there are so many shades of grey. Being aware of those shades and knowing what is better is so important.

Health & Equity Learn About The Health & Equity SDGs
What was a linking factor across this group of SDGs?

    Laura Browning 4/13/2022 8:35 AM
Continual education and ability to shift perspective as needed.
  • Reflection Question
    Economy & Communities Induction Cooking
Would you consider using an induction cooking surface? If you have used one before, what do you like about induction cooking?

    Laura Browning's avatar
    Laura Browning 4/13/2022 8:35 AM
I use an induction cooking surface often. I like the lower temperature cooking- even if I still struggle with the higher temperature balance.
  • Reflection Question
Health & Equity Learn About Gender Diversity
Why is equity for gender diverse individuals important for a just and sustainable society?

    Laura Browning's avatar
    Laura Browning 4/12/2022 5:42 AM
Different ideas, experiences, and backgrounds support a more sustainable future. Leaving so many people out of the conversation means their voices are not heard, their needs are not met, and their ideas go untested.

What is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?

I am pushing our community to put in a community compost which people can use, and can be used on our community space.
